Head Coach - Girls Flag Football (Leuzinger HS) (REPOST)

About the Role

Under the direction of the Principal or their designee, the Head Coach is responsible for coaching the varsity girls flag football team and performing related duties. Compensation includes a coaching stipend per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for current employees or $5,187 per season for walk-on coaches.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Prepare fields on game day and manage logistics for all lower-level competitions.
  • Check and respond to Centinela Outlook email regularly.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes.
  • Coordinate the development and promotion of the program.
  • Work with school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives for the overall educational development of student-athletes.
  • Ensure all coaches work together toward a common goal and provide unity within all levels of the program.
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
  • Develop and maintain a regular practice schedule to provide both individual and team development.
  • Hold a preseason meeting with all student-athletes and parents before the first official game.
  • Assess players' skills and assign team positions; determine game strategy based on the team's capabilities.
  • Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.
  • Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities, including preventing hazing/bullying.
  • Maintain and secure all equipment and uniforms; oversee cleaning, repairing, and storing of athletic equipment.
  • Communicate with the Athletic Director to ensure compliance with all CIF regulations, including eligibility forms, transfer forms, and grade reports.
  • Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations regarding academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices; assist with college recruitment.
  • Assist the Athletic Director with scheduling games and coordinate arrangements.
  • Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media and other organizations.
  • Participate in special activities such as senior night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Confer with parents/guardians regarding the athletic performance of their student.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Trainer (ATC) and follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
  • Represent the Centinela Valley Union High School District and program in a professional manner.
  • Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.
  • Recommend, advocate for, and attend all league, area, and other award nominations.
  • Manage lower-level teams, staff, and logistics; supervise and conduct players and staff; and handle fundraising as needed.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience as a varsity coach at the high school level in flag football or at least two years of experience as an NCAA or Professional player in flag football.
  • Ability to explain, demonstrate, and analyze fundamental skills and strategies.
  • Ability to meet all CIF Coaching requirements and certifications.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of CIF Rules and Regulations pertaining to football.
  • Experience with HUDL or similar film review software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the game and current coaching techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NFHS and CIF rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to students and teach them on and off the field.
  • High level of accountability and ability to assess players and coaches effectively.
  • Professionally calm and motivationally intense; progressive thinker with a belief in planning and preparation.

Qualifications

  • At least four years of experience as a head varsity football coach at the high school level or higher.
  • Winning percentage of at least 50% in season and playoffs as a head coach.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Clearinghouse Requirements.
  • Experience as a college or professional football player.
  • Demonstrated success with booster clubs and fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success in developing a team with high academic achievement.

Certifications

  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching or Sport-Specific certification.
  • NFHS Concussion in Sports (every 2 years).
  • NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest (every 2 years).
  • NFHS Heat Illness Prevention (every 2 years).
  • Valid CPR/First-Aid card.

Pay
