Head Coach Boys Soccer

Stipend: $3,695.00 paid at the end of the soccer season, as per the RE-1 Valley Schools Extra Duty Salary Schedule.

About the Role

The Head Boys Soccer Coach provides leadership in the following areas:

• Coordination of varsity and lower-level teams.
• Development of expectations and direction of the soccer program.
• Tracking of eligibility and academic progress of students.
• Preparation of teams for competition.
• Teaching fundamental and advanced skills.
• Attendance at coaches' meetings, league coaches' meetings, and professional development.
• Communication with parents, players, staff, and media via RE-1 Valley School District-approved media.
• Following school district regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for effective performance in the activity, both as individuals and team members.
• Plan and direct a regular program of practice in season.
• Maintain competency in rules, regulations, and coaching techniques for the sport.
• Maintain discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforce the policies of the District uniformly when disciplining participants.
• Supervise student athletes when traveling.
• Oversee the safety conditions for students and facility during all times students are present.
• Demonstrate cooperative conduct.
• Share responsibility for equipment distribution, collection, and inventory.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Complete and submit an RE-1 Valley Schools online application.
• Willing and able to drive to away games, camps, and scrimmages.
• Knowledgeable in the techniques and strategies for the sport/activity.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to follow both oral and written directions and instructions from the athletic director.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
• Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
• Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
• Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the athletic director.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 3 years of high school and/or college coaching experience.
• Knowledge of all aspects of senior high school activity programming.
• Proven leadership qualities and successful experience in working with high school students.
• Background/experience in coaching high school soccer, or equivalent.

About the Location

Sterling is located in Logan County in the northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. With a population of approximately 14,699 (2020), Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care, and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1.5 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the front range (I-25 corridor).
