Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate respect for the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to student-athletes, coaches, staff, administration and the University community.
  • Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement.
  • Assume all coaching responsibilities related to the sport of cheer.
  • Assume all administrative responsibilities related to the sport of cheer, including purchase and maintenance of all equipment and coordination of food, lodging and transportation needs.
  • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Develop and enforce team rules.
  • Plan, develop and conduct all in-season and off-season practices and conditioning sessions.
  • Ensure that proper safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
  • Cookordinate all strategy related to the sport of cheer.
  • Responsible for all aspects of recruitment in accordance with university and NAIA rules, including meeting recruiting goals. A roster of 15 student-athletes is expected to be maintained.
  • Ability to use social media for recruiting and program promoting purposes.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic administration and Financial Aid Services in awarding financial assistance, specifically athletic scholarships.
  • Understand and support all athletic policies and regulations, as well as all philosophies, of the University and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Understand and support the NAIA Champions of Character Coaches Code.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic administration in scheduling competitions and practices.
  • Represent the athletic department and university in a professional manner at various internal and external functions and in working with internal and external constituencies, including but not limited to the media and general public.
  • Oversee all aspects of budget preparation and management.
  • Perform other administrative duties within the department as assigned.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
