About the role

The Head Cashier at Sprouts Farmers Market supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues to ensure excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Proactively visit registers to provide direction and support to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks.
• Assist with potential customer issues at the register.
• Assign store sweeps, monitor and maintain cash register supply levels, and uphold cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
• Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention.
• Schedule and oversee proper execution of meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
• Assist in hiring and training new Cashiers, and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude; ability to interact with customers and serve as a role model.
• Ability to operate front-end equipment such as registers, calculators, and scanners.
• Strong communication skills; ability to take direction, provide constructive criticism, and work in a team environment.
• Ability to perform repetitious activities, multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized.
• Must lift and carry products weighing up to 30 lbs. horizontally/vertically from 36” to 24” for distances up to 3 feet, for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Must use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring a force up to 35 lbs., for distances up to 4 feet, for up to 50 hours.
• Strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers; skilled in cash handling and mathematical tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and count.
