Position Highlights

• Responsibilities in OR, clinic, and rounding in SMH-Sarasota.
• First Assist in OR - free flaps, robotics, inspire, cosmetic facial plastics.
• In clinic, seeing post-operative patients with future plan to manage survivorship clinic.
• 14 weekend rounding responsibilities.

Requirements

• Experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate.
• SMH - Sarasota, an 897-bed hospital, is the only hospital in Sarasota County providing Level II Trauma, Level III NICU, pediatric services and behavioral health for people of all ages.
• The Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute, opened in 2021 provides 56 private suites for hospitalized cancer patients, nine (9) state of the art operating rooms with a dedicated robotic surgery suite and integrative care services offering patient navigation and family/caregiver support.
• A new Outpatient Cancer Pavilion is under construction and will open in June 2026 with additional radiation oncology, surgical and medical oncology capabilities to facilitate effective multidisciplinary care.

About the Role

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking to employ a Physician Assistant to join a rapidly growing Head & Neck Oncology Program. Conveniently located on Sarasota Memorial Hospital - Sarasota, the hired Physician Assistant will join an additional PA and two Surgeons.

Skills

• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.
• Demonstrated clinical competency skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing.
• Demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
• Effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
• Effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
• Knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs.
