About the Role

Produces both plastic and wood parts by programming, setting up, and operating numerical control CNC machines. Performs packaging, assembly, loading, and uses mechanical drills, saws, sanders, and other hand tools while maintaining quality and safety standards. Enters production into the shop order program and maintains equipment and supplies. May also perform duties of an HDPE Associate 1 as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Manages hot jobs, daily work, and material flow.
  • Coordinates and communicates work priorities, issues, or shortages to supervisor or lead.
  • Interprets blueprints and produces parts within specified tolerances.
  • Maintains productivity and utilization as specified by supervisor.
  • Works with hands and lifts or holds heavy items (up to 50 pounds).
  • Claims and reports completed work to supervisor or lead.
  • Reads blueprints, files, or programs for CNC jobs, including dimensions, tolerances, machine settings, and textures, and determines the sequence of operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager, supervisor, or lead.

Requirements

  • Experience running a CNC router or ability to be trained.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficiency in operating an HDPE computer to claim production, open files, and run files on a CNC router.
  • Forklift operation experience or ability to be trained.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, such as electric routers.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently walks and sits; uses hands and fingers to handle or feel; reaches with hands and arms; talks or listens.
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus, as well as visually distinguish different colors.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually quiet, except in the manufacturing environment where personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
