HD7020 - Operator II
About the Role
Operator II positions are responsible for the initial processing of newly molded plastic pails. The role involves installing plastic or metal handles and caps in open-head pails and tight-head containers to meet customer requirements. Operators complete all required paperwork for on-site testing within the Positive Release System, including flame treat, sprue height/holes, decoration, and excessive flash. They perform final visual inspections of molded products before packaging or warehouse storage.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand production schedules.
- Assemble components according to customer packaging requirements.
- Follow all oral and written instructions.
- Perform final visual inspection of packages and components prior to pallet assembly, including gasket installation, fittings installation, cap application, and handle installation.
- Conduct hourly checks (flame treat, sprue height, tag screws, excessive flash, neck flatness, weights) and record results.
- Inform Machine Attendant of any quality or machine issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-supplied work area.
- Adhere to proper handling practices for food-grade products.
- Notify appropriate personnel before leaving the work area.
- Prepare packaging supplies as required.
- Follow all safety and quality work instructions.
- Assist in setup or adjustment of post-molding processes (flycutters, leak detectors, flame treaters, weight checkers, gasket/fittings installation equipment).
- Relieve personnel for breaks as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Uphold Site and Corporate Environmental Policies by adhering to all environmental procedures and work instructions.
Requirements
- High school education or GED and three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees.
- Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
- Ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally move up to 200 pounds using a conveyor roller system.
