Colony Tire located in Summerville, SC is seeking a full-time HD Mechanic to join our team.

About the Role

Employee will perform tire and auto-related service as well as other duties as assigned by the manager. Mechanics work for competitive, unlimited pay and must be able to diagnose and repair simple and complex automotive issues, as well as perform routine maintenance on passenger vehicles and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established procedures to inspect tires, wheels, and vehicles before and after service.
  • Execute precision alignment tasks for heavy-duty equipment and powertrain systems, including but not limited to wheel alignment, axle alignment, and drivetrain adjustments.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify alignment issues and potential mechanical problems, conducting thorough inspections and analyses.
  • Calibrate and adjust alignment systems according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance on alignment equipment, ensuring tools and machines are in proper working condition.
  • Maintain detailed records of alignment procedures, diagnostic results, and maintenance activities for compliance and reference.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain alignment issues, recommend repairs, and solutions, ensuring a clear understanding of the work performed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and mitigate risks associated with alignment tasks.
  • Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, and equipment such as forklifts or passenger vehicles.
  • Perform general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution.
  • Identify complex problems, review related information, and develop and evaluate options to implement solutions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience required.
  • Must hold a valid CDL driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalency, and/or related experience is preferred but not required.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to control operations of equipment or systems and monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators.
  • Extent flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Static strength to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Knowledge of commonly used tools, including power tools, machine tools, jacks, hoists, and common hand tools.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Environment may or may not be air-conditioned/heated seasonally.
  • Frequent work with dirty and greasy parts and in awkward positions.
  • Must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but serious accidents can usually be avoided if safe practices are observed.
