About the role
The Pediatric Coach delivers services through the Pediatric Complex Care Resource Centers (PCCRC) to support caregivers in the non-medical aspects of caring for a child with complex medical conditions receiving in-home shift care. The role focuses on advisory, education, and referral functions to build family and caregiver capacity and efficacy.
Responsibilities
- Caregiver Support and Intervention: Serve as a resource for principal caregivers, providing support and intervention for caregiver teams, including problem solving, conflict resolution, and bridging familial social and medical goals.
- Learning Customization and Facilitation: Provide families and healthcare providers with education and training tailored to each child’s specific needs, empowering the child’s community. Facilitate training (classroom-based, small group, or individualized) using resources from the PCCRC and MyODP website.
- Family Advisory Workgroup Facilitation: Support caregiver teams by facilitating quarterly PCCRC Family Advisory Group meetings, coordinating all aspects of these regionally located events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, learning and instruction, human services, or a related field.
- Life experience preferred in working with children with complex medical needs and families.
- Life experience preferred in working with Managed Care Organizations (MCO), Supports Coordination, Administrative Entities, and/or medical service providers.
- Knowledge of public healthcare as it relates to people with Intellectual Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, and Autism.
- Intellectual Disabilities systems knowledge preferred.
- Act 33 and Act 34 clearance and FBI background check, if applicable.
- Valid PA Driver’s License.
Schedule
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Weekdays, with flexibility to meet department needs.
- Position involves travel throughout the western PA region, with a focus on clients within Allegheny County.
Pay
Annual compensation range: $60,000 – $65,000.
