Key Responsibilities
- Lead the ADA & Reasonable Accommodation Process: Oversee the interactive process for reasonable accommodations, including receiving requests, verifying disabilities, identifying essential job functions, and facilitating return-to-work options (e.g., light duty, Trial Work Periods).
- Conduct Workspace & Ergonomic Evaluations: Act as the agency’s Ergonomic Evaluation and Safety Coordinator. Investigate worksite conditions, conduct workspace analyses, identify physical or environmental barriers, and recommend equipment modifications or procedural changes to reduce injury risks.
- Develop Safety & Health Programs: Participate in developing long-term safety goals, analyze accident data, and design/deploy targeted safety programs, wellness initiatives, and training courses (e.g., floor warden training) to optimize employee health and safety.
- Manage Unemployment Compensation Claims: Process and monitor initial unemployment claims, submit wage and employment data to external agencies (such as ODJFS), file formal appeals, and serve as the agency’s expert witness/representative during hearings before the Unemployment Compensation Review Commission.
- Lead ODH Wellness Initiatives: Act as the group lead for the ODH Wellness Committee. Plan and execute employee wellness events, physical activities, health challenges, and statewide offerings (e.g., Take Charge Live Well [TCLW]).
- Facilitate Agency Trainings & Communication: Develop and maintain training materials, and lead informational sessions on safety, ergonomics, and wellness (including blood drives and biometric screenings).
- Case Tracking & Auditing: Systematically track, monitor, and audit all ADA, ergonomic, and compliance cases to ensure strict adherence to federal and state laws, as well as internal agency policies.
