HC1 Crew Leader

Job Summary

Crew Leaders are responsible for leading crews and performing essential tasks within their assigned department of operation. They assist in supervisory tasks and work hands-on with crews to ensure the safety of the team and the smooth completion of manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

• Carry out operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities.
• Review production and aid in resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to minimize costs and prevent delays.
• Work with shop employees and maintenance personnel to ensure tooling and equipment are in good condition and replace worn/damaged items promptly.
• Communicate supervisors' adjustments to crews to make necessary changes and resolve problems.
• Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and equipment usage to enhance shop, department, or work crew efficiency.
• Promote 5S, lean initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
• Follow and enforce company policies, standards, and employee relations.
• Complete accident/incident reports and required paperwork in the absence of the supervisor.
• Encourage safe working habits and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Resolve employee grievances, promote teamwork, and provide feedback for evaluations.
• Record and maintain accurate employee time, absenteeism, PTO records, and schedule personnel shifts.
• Lead by example and mentor employees to develop their skills.
• Ensure employees perform required daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly PM's.
• Follow through with corrective actions related to monthly quality and safety meetings.

Requirements & Physical Demands

• Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent physical exertion, including lifting up to 50 pounds and operating cranes and forklifts.
• Limited exposure to outdoor elements, extreme heat, cold temperatures, snow, ice, etc.
• Use tools such as basic hand tools, saws, grinders, mills, lathes, bending tools, drill presses, band saws, scales, and stamping tools.
• Wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed boots (provided by the company).
• Give full attention to tasks and follow safety policies and guidelines.
• Identify hazards and assist in improving safety practices and procedures.
• Participate in safety training programs and share learning.
• Ask for help if needed to perform tasks safely.

Education & Experience

• A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
• 1-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

• Communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group situations, including customers, clients, and other employees.
