HazMat Field Driver/Technician - CDL A
About the role
The HazMat Field Driver/Technician transports various waste streams to designated generator sites safely while driving class A trucks. Operate a Tractor Trailer pulling a variety of trailer types including roll-offs, tankers, and van trailers to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous waste. This role may also require driving a straight truck periodically.
This position operates Monday through Friday with variable scheduling that may include 3-4 overnight shifts per week based on customer locations, routes, and delivery requirements. Most weekends and holidays are off, with occasional exceptions for critical business needs.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate trucks which may include roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers, and box trucks.
- Perform LTL (less than load) pickups.
- Maintain driver documents, such as logbook, quarterly permit book, trip reports, and waste manifests.
- Understand DOT regulations pertaining to hazardous waste collection, packaging, and transportation, including accurate placarding, loading securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
- Comprehend state weight limit laws.
- Operate vehicles safely, abiding by laws and regulations.
- Utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software maintenance.
- Perform DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Interact and communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain good housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds.
- Function as a technician on lab pack and field service projects as needed.
- Participate in the Site Safety program and required training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
Qualifications
- A valid class A commercial driver's license is required with hazardous material and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain endorsement(s) within 90 days from hire date.
- MVR that meets Company policy standards.
- Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.
