HazMat Field Driver/Position - CDL (A)

About the role

The HazMat Field Driver/Technician transports various waste streams to designated generator sites safely while driving Class A trucks. This role involves operating a tractor-trailer pulling roll-offs, tankers, van trailers, and occasionally straight trucks to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

This position operates Monday through Friday with variable scheduling, including 3-4 overnight shifts per week based on customer locations and delivery requirements. Most weekends and holidays are off, with occasional exceptions for critical business needs.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate trucks, including roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers, and box trucks.
• Perform LTL (less than load) pickups.
• Maintain driver documents such as logbooks, quarterly permit books, trip reports, and waste manifests.
• Understand and comply with DOT regulations for hazardous waste collection, packaging, and transportation, including placarding, load securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
• Adhere to state weight limit laws and operate vehicles safely in compliance with all regulations.
• Utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software for maintenance and operations.
• Perform DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Interact and communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain good housekeeping at facilities and on grounds.
• Function as a technician on lab pack and field service projects as needed.
• Participate in the Site Safety program and required training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A commercial driver’s license with hazardous material and tanker endorsements (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• MVR that meets Company policy standards.
• Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.
