Hazardous Waste Supervisor (TDY 2027)

Season: April–August Location: Remote Department: Six Mile, LLC Antarctica
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Hazardous Waste Manager to set department priorities.
- Ensure all incoming employees receive proper training and maintain a log of this information.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient pick-up and processing of hazardous waste.
- Troubleshoot issues and elevate them to the Hazardous Waste Manager as needed.
- Accurately input data into the hazardous waste tracking database.
- Perform quality checks on shipping containers and correct discrepancies immediately.
- Follow all Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and update them if needed.
- Assist the Solid Waste Department as needed.
- Write spill reports, if applicable.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and tasking responsibilities of the Waste department.
- Work effectively in a team unit composed of diverse personalities.
- Display self-motivation in a physically challenging and atypical work environment; position is approximately 90% outdoor tasking.
- Maintain flexibility and a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced work setting.
- Perform duties in support of Operations Division metrics (as provided by supervisor).
- Support the achievement of ASC metrics, whether directly or indirectly affected by this position’s work activities.
- Comply with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals; provide documentation as necessary.
- Work to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- 2 years (or Ice seasons) of Waste Management experience.
- College degree (2 additional years of experience will substitute).
- Strong computer software experience.
- Able to lift 50 pounds consistently and wear a respirator.
- Valid Driver’s License and Passport.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
- Successfully gain a favorable Tier 1 - Elevated Background Investigation (EBI) result prior to deployment.
- US citizenship or permanent residency.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of Hazardous Materials shipping/characterization or reporting experience or 2 years of Environmental remediation.
- 1 year of supervisory experience.
- 1 quarter of college General Chemistry.
- College degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science.
- Current OSHA HazWOPER 40-Hour certification.
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery.
- Equipment operating experience.
