About the role

This position supports Navarro-ATL, a subsidiary of Planned Systems International, which operates the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy in Richland, WA.

Responsibilities

  • Scopes technical tasks and develops creative solutions to assigned problems of basic to high complexity.
  • Provides characterization and program support for all radiological and non-radiological waste types.
  • Supports ongoing HLMI waste management efforts with broad-based technical and regulatory support.
  • Performs calculations to support waste management and characterization efforts.
  • Creates and identifies documentation to be revised based on regulations, results of calculations, and other efforts, and updates documents accordingly.
  • Supports effective implementation and regulatory compliance of waste management programs.
  • Performs and reviews waste designations.
  • Provides general facility and project waste management support for packaging, shipping, and disposition of various waste types.
  • Performs field walk downs and assessments to ensure compliance with waste stream profiles, calculations, and procedures.
  • Reviews work packages for potential generation of waste streams and provides guidance for their disposition.
  • Prepares Waste Program manuals and procedures.
  • Evaluates hazardous materials packaging, transportation, handling, and associated activities for compliance and acceptability.
  • Develops and implements programs and procedures for packaging, transport, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Participates in the corrective action process.
  • Verifies hazardous materials offered for shipment against established standards.

Qualifications

  • Grade 16: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 5 years of related experience.
  • Grade 18: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 8 years of related experience.
