Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct market research focusing on travel demand, customer behavior, and competitive landscape, particularly in the U.S. West Coast market.
- Collect and analyze internal and external data to support business development.
- Develop hypotheses and prepare analytical reports to guide decision-making.
- Support the planning and execution of service testing and continuous improvement initiatives for the Tourism Platform.
- Assist in testing transportation services, mobility integration, and pass-based products.
- Collect, manage, and analyze operational data, including usage logs, customer feedback, and GPS/MAP data.
- Identify operational challenges and propose service improvements based on data and business needs.
- Support the planning and improvement of core transportation services (airport transfer, city transportation, and island shuttle services).
- Assist in developing integrated transportation solutions and shared mobility services.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of multi-use passes and service offerings.
- Aid in the development of digital commerce functions, including booking, payment, and product management systems.
- Support the design of customer journeys, including landing pages and user interfaces.
- Cook with with system vendors and internal stakeholders to support platform development.
- Contribute to initiatives that enhance customer engagement through digital tools.
- Support collaboration with transportation providers (e.g., HiBus, mobi, Uber) and other external partners.
- Assist in identifying and developing new business partnerships.
- Cook with with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
- Support the development of additional services such as optional tours, restaurants, and retail offerings.
- Aid in localizing products and services for English-speaking markets.
- Contribute to cross-selling and upselling strategies to enhance revenue opportunities.
- Support the collection, analysis, and utilization of marketing and operational data.
- Aid in developing pricing strategies and revenue models.
- Contribute to business planning and commercialization proposals based on PoC outcomes.
Secondary Functions
- Support company-wide events and initiatives by coordinating digital content, promotional materials, and operational requirements as needed.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives across departments, supporting alignment and execution.
- Continuously develop professional knowledge in digital technologies, mobility services, and travel industry trends, and apply insights to improve business outcomes.
- Provide support to management and other departments during peak periods or as business needs require.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in business development, project coordination, digital, or marketing-related roles.
- Strong communication skills in English and Japanese (both verbal and written).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, business partners, and external stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and basic negotiation ability.
- Understanding of travel market dynamics, including Japanese and international customer segments.
- Knowledge of Hawaii’s tourism industry, infrastructure, and mobility environment.
- Familiarity with JTB products, services, and internal systems is preferred.
- Working knowledge of digital tools and platforms (e.g., CMS, data tools, and creative tools such as Adobe Illustrator) is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license preferred.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Must be able to frequently communicate with customers/ co-workers/vendors over the phone, computer, or in person in Japanese and English.
- Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier, printer, multi-line telephone system, cellular phone, facsimile machine, other standard office equipment, email, vehicle.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
- Must be able to observe documents from computer screens.
- Must be able to operate heavy camera equipment during photo shooting.
- Occasionally lift and/or relocate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with aid of coworkers and handcarts.
- Subject to atmospheric conditions including: an air conditioned office, exhaust fumes, and dust.
