Responsibilities
Large Haul Truck Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of rigid-frame haul trucks on heavy civil construction projects. Responsibilities include:
- Transporting excavated rock, earth, and other materials throughout the project site while maintaining safe operating practices and supporting production goals.
- Operating rigid-frame haul trucks safely and efficiently in support of mass excavation, rock excavation, and earthmoving operations.
- Transporting rock, soil, aggregate, and other materials between excavation, stockpile, and disposal areas.
- Maintaining safe haul road speeds, traffic patterns, and proper following distances at all times.
- Positioning equipment safely and efficiently for loading by production excavators, including CAT 395 excavators or equivalent equipment.
- Following designated haul routes and dumping procedures while maintaining production targets.
- Conducting daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including tires, brakes, steering systems, lights, warning devices, and fluid levels.
- Identifying and reporting mechanical issues, safety concerns, and maintenance needs promptly.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors, excavator operators, dozer operators, and other team members using two-way radios and other communication devices.
- Following all company safety policies, project requirements, and equipment operating procedures.
- Working safely around active excavation areas, loading zones, haul roads, and other heavy equipment operations.
- Auxiliary with general labor duties as needed to support project operations.
Requirements

- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating rigid-frame haul trucks in heavy civil construction, mining, quarry, mass excavation, or large earthwork environments
- Experience operating off-highway haul trucks such as CAT 773, 775, 777, or equivalent equipment preferred
- Experience working around production excavators, dozers, loaders, and other heavy equipment in active earthmoving operations
- Ability to safely transport rock, soil, aggregate, and other materials while maintaining production goals
- Willingness to perform laborer duties when equipment operation is not required
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a professional attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work safely under pressure and adapt to changing jobsite conditions and production demands
- Strong situational awareness, hand-eye coordination, and depth perception
- Ability to climb in and out of equipment, walk uneven terrain, bend, stoop, kneel, balance, and lift up to 75 pounds as required
- Flexible availability, including overtime, weekends, and extended work schedules as project needs require
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors, dispatch personnel, equipment operators, and team members using radios and other communication devices
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
