Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (extended to 18 months for layoffs or child/elder care)
  • Previous work history does not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months
  • Rehire criteria: minimum waiting period of 180 days; no more than 3 prior employments at Cobb/Tyson Foods
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Priority consideration for internal applicants and those with agricultural or production experience
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to not own or avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and some Fridays including holidays. Hours: 4:45 a.m. until the job is complete. Typically averages 35 hours per week. Work schedule is subject to change depending on production needs.

About the Role

This position is responsible for the processing of all chickens including grading, vaccinating, and toe trimming.

Responsibilities

  • Process chickens including grade, vaccinate (operate robot), weigh chicks, and perform toe trim (70%)
  • Operate box washer (10%)
  • Operate macerator (10%)
  • Operate a high-pressure and regular water hose, maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers, make and cut vitamin gel, maintain a clean and organized work area (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare

  • Showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering the facility (provided by the Company)
  • No jewelry except medical ID jewelry; body piercings must be covered by appropriate clothing

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Regularly push or pull chick boxes weighing up to 125 lbs
  • Lift chick boxes weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Stand for the majority of the shift on a concrete floor; walk, sit, use hands, reach, balance, stoop, bend, talk, or hear
  • Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments

Tools and Equipment

  • Proficient in operating the robot and toe trim machine
  • Personal Protective Equipment: safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots, ear plugs, and earmuffs

Safety

  • Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lockout/Tagout, and Personal Protective Equipment
