Gibbon Packing, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has an opportunity for a Harvest Superintendent at our Gibbon, NE plant.

About the role

As our Harvest Superintendent, you are in charge of daily operations of the Harvest Department under the supervision of the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the General Foreman and Supervisors in the Harvest Department.
  • Manage all harvest processes; ensuring efficient, effective, and accurate operations according to customer specifications.
  • Monitor and control downtime; provide solutions to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain high production and quality while ensuring the safest working environment possible.
  • Actively monitor food security and defense surveillance inside the facility and its operation, including ensuring all SQF, GMP, SOP, HACCP, and OSHA rules are being followed.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of the work areas.
  • Complete reports and other paperwork such as discipline, progress evaluations, terminations, etc.
  • Ensure every position is filled before start up, job rotation in order to facilitate ergonomics.
  • Ensure all machinery is performing to the highest standard possible.

Requirements

  • Must be able to maintain accurate records.
  • Must have working knowledge of the entire harvest process including barn operations and humane handling.
  • Must have the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with all levels of employees from hourly to upper management, as well as government officials.
  • Must be able to identify and address safety hazards; promote safety on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree OR 2 years of experience at a supervisory level.

Skills

  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to manage a group of personnel who perform various production tasks or activities.
  • Ability to understand and control the harvest process.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance.
  • Ability to lead by example, encourage teamwork and learning, and motivate the hourly workforce.
