About the role
We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Production team as Harvest Cellar Workers. As a Harvest Cellar Worker, you will play a vital role in various stages of the winemaking process. This position involves various tasks, including receiving fruit, crush pad operation, performing punch downs, sanitation, barrel prep, barrel filling, and pressing.
We offer two levels of harvest positions:
- Harvest Cellar 1 for entry-level candidates ($16.90 per hour, plus overtime pay)
- Harvest Cellar 2 for those with more experience ($17.65 per hour, plus overtime pay)
Harvest positions will begin in August and may extend through December or potentially longer. During the peak of harvest (September - November), you can anticipate shifts to last 10 hours a day, 6-7 days a week; however, longer hours may be required based on business needs. These seasonal, full-time positions are based in Paso Robles, CA, and require flexibility to work weekends and overtime.
Responsibilities
- Completes work assignments and work orders in a timely manner
- Follows all company policies and works safely at all times
- Responsible for sanitation of cellar area, equipment, and tanks
- Assists in all cellar operations; racking, transfers, and barrel downs, etc.
- Responsible for intake, inoculations, chemical additions, and pressings
- Monitors temperature of wine tanks
- Cleans, maintains, and organizes barrels as needed
- Assists with still wine barrel work
- Replenishes cellar inventory of supplies
- Samples tanks as needed
- Performs any other duties assigned
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The work environment is in an industrial setting with forklift traffic and public tour groups. Employees are also exposed to weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Cellar work is a physically demanding position. The physical demands include:
- Ability to lift 45 pounds
- Ability to walk for a long portion of the day in a variety of hot and cold climates and wet environments
- Able to perform basic math calculations
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to read, speak and write in English OR Spanish
- Flexible and willing to work overtime and weekends
Pay
- Harvest Cellar Worker I: $16.90 per hour, plus overtime pay
- Harvest Cellar Worker II: $17.65 per hour, plus overtime pay
Schedule
