Role Summary
This position is a technical role focused on Linux server environments, data center operations, and hardware troubleshooting at an intermediate level. The responsibilities include supporting engineering and data center teams by performing system diagnostics, firmware updates, hardware recovery, and lab support.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues in Linux server and data center environments.
- Perform firmware flashing, OS deployment, and system recovery on rack-mounted servers.
- Update and manage firmware on multiple racks simultaneously.
- Launch, monitor, and support diagnostic workloads for hardware validation and testing.
- Support rack bring-up, system testing, and hardware validation activities.
- Recover failed systems or trays and support engineering teams during off-hours when necessary.
- Assemble, install, and configure large server systems and development platforms.
- Assist in mechanical reworks, including solder rework and signal waveform collection, as needed.
- Maintain and organize lab equipment, manage inventory, and support shipping and logistics.
- Document testing results, troubleshooting procedures, and system configurations clearly.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification, associate or bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 12 to 18 months of hands-on experience working in a Linux-based server or datacenter environment.
- Demonstrated experience with Linux command-line operations and scripting (Python, Bash preferred).
- Familiarity with server hardware provisioning, OS deployment, firmware flashing, and system recovery.
- Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, switching/routing fundamentals.
- Experience with hardware validation, silicon bring-up, or lab support in large-scale server environments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, including overtime, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.
