Hardware Technician

About the role
Under general direction, the Hardware Technician provides first-level support to end users, performs hands-on desktop repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of systems, and assists staff in both the Corporate Office and remote locations with technical support of desktop computers, laptops, printers, and applications in a multi-operating system environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform desktop and laptop repairs and upgrades as necessary.
- Connect remotely and work with users to walk them through issues.
- Handle operating system and application upgrades, hardware upgrades or repairs, and installation of new systems.
- Serve as a technical resource for help desk and PC support, troubleshooting complex system problems.
- Assist with the creation of new accounts, editing or termination of existing accounts, distribution lists, and password resets.
- Resolve desktop hardware and software issues.
- Perform network administration tasks, including address assignment.
- Respond to support issues via phone, email, and virtual log-in.
- Determine escalation points for specific issues.
- Support office technology such as televisions, projectors, and video conference equipment.
- Serve as the main point of contact for help with tablet and iPad issues (e.g., repairs and hardware changes).
- Participate in developing procedures and suggest improvements to existing procedures.
- Troubleshoot mobile devices and tablets.
- Respond to requests for assistance in person, over the phone, via email, and through an internal trouble ticket system.
- Perform additional duties as required or requested.
Requirements
- High school education required; college coursework preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking and VPN.
- Good working knowledge of common office equipment, including printers, faxes, projectors, and televisions.
- Experience using the MS Office Suite of programs.
- In-depth understanding of the following:
- Active Directory domain administration
- Windows 10
- VPN
- Remote Desktop
- Office 2011/2013
- Smartphone and iPad device configuration and administration
- Phone system administration (programming, support hardware)
- Good oral and written English language communication skills.
- Quick learner and strong, effective problem solver.

Pay
This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $22 to $25 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires typically earn between $46,200 and $52,500 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.
Schedule
Monday to Friday from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, with 2 Saturdays a month from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
