About the role

This role requires consistent, in-person collaboration and will be performed full-time onsite at a BAE Systems facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana. BAE Systems is seeking a Hardware Engineering Section Lead / Manager to join the Airborne Tactical Radios team, which develops next-generation military communications systems for air, land, and naval warfighters.

In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you’ll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit, and disseminate actionable information. This position focuses on the Adaptive Communication and Sensing (AC&S) Product Line within the C4ISR Business area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a department of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and technicians supporting the Airborne Tactical Radio portfolio.
  • Oversee the successful capture, planning, and execution of C4ISR hardware programs, including technical oversight, staff planning, performance monitoring, and metrics reporting.
  • Provide technical oversight of programs in a Hardware Lead capacity, covering technical status, Cost Account Management, and Earned Value reporting.
  • Manage hardware tasks on projects to ensure programs stay on schedule, within budget, and meet technical requirements.
  • Act as an Independent Assessor during Design Reviews and Peer Reviews.
  • Perform project development work on contracted programs as required.
  • Participate in the hiring process and manage the development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluation of subordinates.
  • Contribute to program proposal development relevant to product roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with business area and program engineering leads on program execution and business strategies.
  • Handle personnel management, including PDR Assessments, Promotion Planning, HR issues, and Career Development Plans for employees.
  • Serve as the Hardware Engineering Process expert, ensuring appropriate process application for programs under your purview.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of work experience, or a Master’s with 10+ years, or a PhD with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
  • Highly familiar with hardware design processes.
  • Demonstrated project and people leadership skills.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Experience with Cost Account Management and Earned Value reporting.
  • Experience providing technical oversight in a Hardware Lead capacity.
  • Leadership ability in Engineering Planning & Project Launch, Driving Technical Performance, and Risk & Opportunity Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience resolving EMI/EMC failures.
  • Experience designing HF, VHF, or UHF tactical communications equipment.
  • Familiarity with C4ISR product domains.
  • Familiarity with AS9145.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $153,377 – $260,743. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
