Hardware Engineering Intern
About the Role
Our Manassas, Virginia team has an opening for a microelectronics hardware engineering intern to develop the most advanced radiation-hardened computer processors, ASICs, and FPGAs to support our Space Systems line of business. You will be part of a team whose products have been deployed in commercial, civil, and national security space missions, including GPS, weather monitoring, satellite TV and radio, and Mars rovers (Spirit and Opportunity). Additional opportunities include working on electronic warfare technology to deliver superior situational awareness in complex battlespaces. This role offers the chance to be integral in developing hardware from concept to deployment.
Responsibilities
- Develop radiation-hardened microelectronics, including computer processors, ASICs, and FPGAs.
- Engage in digital logic, VLSI, design verification, digital system testing, re-configurable computing, systems on a chip, or circuit board design.
- Contribute to hardware development from concept to deployment.
- Participate in lab testing and debug activities.
- Collaborate with a team on advanced aerospace and defense projects.
Requirements
- Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Passion and desire to work in the field of Microelectronics.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Self-starter and a good team player.
- Ability to mentor and willingness to be mentored.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in leading a design team.
- Hands-on hardware design and lab debug experience.
- Experience generating scripts (Perl, Tcl, Python).
- Working knowledge of C/C++.
- Experience in HDL Design/Development, including:
- Ability to distill higher-level requirements into micro-architecture.
- VHDL or Verilog HDL coding.
- Digital simulation using Modelsim/Questa or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of internal logic analyzer (ILA/chipscope/signaltap).
- Willingness and experience in lab testing.
- Working toward an advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $49,592 - $68,993. Individual salaries are determined by factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
