About the role

The Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) Hardware Engineering (PHE) team is a multi-site unit responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the PPTT to support the Next Generation Training Program (NGTP). This role focuses on trainer integration to create a first-of-a-kind product that will transform Navy training for the next four decades. As an innovative and highly motivated engineer, you will contribute directly to trainer integration efforts throughout the hardware project lifecycle, including design, fabrication, installation, and test. This is an opportunity to join the team early in the design phase and work closely with suppliers to ensure their designs meet technical requirements and project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct independent work efforts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are being met
  • Support design reviews and technical interchanges with suppliers
  • Review and disposition supplier design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements
  • Support on-site hardware inspections of production equipment at supplier facilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or
  • Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company

Skills

  • Experience with simulation technology
  • Strong leadership and ability to work collaboratively
  • Prior experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
  • Prior experience evaluating designs against approved technical requirements
  • Experience providing technical oversight to suppliers within contractual bounds
  • Experience teaming with BPMI
  • Ability to rapidly process information, exhibit effective decision making, and improve project success
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay

$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually

All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory maintains a drug-free workplace and workforce; candidates must pass a drug test in compliance with company policy and 10 CFR 707.
