About the role
We are seeking an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to work on a wide variety of telecommunications products. This individual will collaborate with a multi-site team of hardware and firmware engineers to design, bring-up, and support a large portfolio of new and legacy custom products used by Carrier and Enterprise customers.
Responsibilities
- Development of electrical hardware used in telecommunications equipment, primarily printed circuit board-based but may also include associated electro-mechanical equipment, cables, and OEM system and chassis solutions.
- Design, documentation, and testing of prototype and production designs.
- Work with a cross-functional team of hardware and software designers, manufacturing, installation, product management, and other key product introduction roles to achieve time-to-market and cost objectives.
- Provide ongoing support for production hardware products, including assisting customer service groups (installation, deployment, technical support, repair), manufacturing, and manufacturing test.
- Evaluate issues and recommend solutions via redesign, component substitution, or other methods.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of related experience.
Skills
- Familiarity with Telecom principles and standards, TDM and IP switching systems, embedded processor systems, real-time computing, and telecom/networking digital and analog interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with test and debug tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, telecom traffic and signal analyzers.
- Experience with RTOS, kernel/user space implementation, drivers, and Linux.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance to achieve specific goals and objectives.
- Strong collaboration skills in multi-discipline, multi-site teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Tools proficiency: PCB (Cadence Concept/Orcad/Allegro), FPGA (Verilog, VHDL, vendor-specific tools), SW (Linux, RTOS compilers).
Pay
The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and education. The compensation package also includes eligibility for an incentive plan and comprehensive benefits, subject to applicable requirements.
