The Senior Optical Systems Engineer will have responsibility for developing optical test instrumentation for emerging markets within semiconductor test. Instrumentation may include imaging systems, illumination sources, optical sensors, and fiber-optics, along with motion systems, cameras, and image-analysis software. As a member of the Silicon Photonics Engineering Staff, you will be a key player in the definition, implementation, and validation of complex automated test equipment that interfaces optical ports of silicon photonic devices at all stages of fabrication, from wafer probe to packaged test.
Responsibilities
- Take a pivotal position in all phases of development, from conceptual design and simulation to layout and product testing
- Design, simulate, and layout both passive and active photonic devices using the latest modeling and layout tools
- Engage in direct collaboration with silicon foundries to streamline processes
- Conduct rigorous testing and characterization of devices and PICs
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field focused on Integrated Photonics, complemented by a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Silicon Photonics device design
- Proficient programming skills for data analysis and layout design
- Working knowledge of the tape-out process with at least one Silicon Photonics foundry, including experience with its Process Design Kit (PDK)
- Expertise in passive optical components such as edge couplers, grating couplers, directional couplers, MMIs, and polarization splitters and rotators
- Hands-on experience with photonic testing equipment in a lab environment
