About the role

Cisco’s Low End Enterprise and Small Business switch team seeks a Networks Hardware Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on developing the next generation switches for simplified and easy-to-use cloud connected edge networks.

Responsibilities

  • Specify technical product documentation and lead reviews.
  • Architect system block diagrams with major Networking ASIC suppliers.
  • Design Networking Switches, review schematics/layout, bring-up, troubleshooting, design validation, and build yield bring-up with tier one ODM/JDM partners.
  • Work with major component suppliers on the next generation high-performance and cost-effective technology.
  • Collaborate with product management and software platform teams to develop next generation product definitions.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (ID/ME/Compliance/SCM) in each NPI phases and bring products to market.
  • Triage, debug, and root cause major customer issues during sustaining stage.
  • Participate in process improvement and innovation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree + 7 years of related experience, or Master’s degree + 4 years of related experience, or PhD + 1 year of related experience, or equivalent related work experience.
  • Some previous supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Prior experience working with multi-gigabit Ethernet and Power-over Ethernet (PoE) technology.
  • Prior experience with schematics/layout, hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, system level testing.
  • Previous experience with working with software team on system bring-up and porting, devices configuration (registers level).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with networking technologies and concepts.
  • Experience working on high volume and cost-sensitive products.
  • Experience bringing products to production.
  • Experience working with teams on different time zones.
  • Excellent communication and strategic planning skills, with a focus on execution.

Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is $152,400.00 to $221,800.00, reflecting the projected salary range for new hires in U.S. and Canadian locations, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. Additional paid time off includes 10 paid holidays, 1 birthday off, 4 personal wellness days, and 16 days of paid vacation for non-exempt employees. Exempt employees participate in Cisco’s flexible vacation time off program. For quota-based sales roles, the ranges provided include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined. Employees in Illinois will participate in a unique time off program to meet local requirements.
