Responsibilities

  • Solve systemic issues, drive changes back into development and build mechanisms to scale and efficiently operate infrastructure at the Edge and Data Center.
  • Work with subject matter experts in compute, memory, storage technologies to develop and deliver the best customer experience in cloud computing.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to understand project requirements and facilitate system development on top of your server design.
  • Solve operational challenges to the existing fleet with the goal of improving the current customer experience as well as developing improved systems for future designs.
  • Work directly with vendors and ODM/JDM design teams to develop and manufacture your product at scale.

The team is comprised of both Hardware Design Engineers, System Design Engineers, Software Development Engineers and Technical Program Managers, all with the common goal of delivering the best specialized server fleet possible to our customers.

Utility Computing (UC) AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Basic qualifications

  • BS degree in EE, CE, or CS
  • 3+ years of experience with complex server, storage or network server designs
  • 3+ years of experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, functional test procedures and operational repair plans
  • 3+ years of experience with debug and root cause analysis of PCIe, memory, storage subsystems or networking
  • 1+ years of advanced support experience managing customer escalations to quickly identify root cause and resolve issues in a large scale production environment (data center or similar)
  • Working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

Preferred qualifications

  • MS degree in EE, CE or CS
  • Technical background in server design or architecture, specifically having led the development of multiple complete servers
  • Experience with server technologies: BIOS, BMC, signal integrity, memory, storage, PCIe, thermal
  • Experience with deploying and operating hardware and applications at scale
  • Developed monitoring and alerting systems to quickly identify and categorize failures in production environments
  • Results oriented person with a bias for action
