Harbor Boat Pilot

Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply, Inc., has an opening for a full-time Harbor Boat Pilot at its Vicksburg location. EMIS supports vessels and tows, allowing you to be part of the crew supporting river operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policy, U. S. Coast Guard rules, and federal, state, and local laws.
• Report violations of EMIS company policy or laws.
• Monitor deck crew performance.
• Inspect vessel and tow for safety, maintenance, and readiness.
• Provide customer service according to EMIS Mission Statement.
• Assist Fuel Boat Pilot in managing EMIS operations when upper management is unavailable.
• Maintain EMIS fleets and equipment, documenting checks every six hours or based on MARSEC levels.
• Inspect barges for damage and ensure safety measures are taken.
• Order supplies as needed.
• Ensure fire safety equipment is operational.
• Train upcoming pilots under the guidance of the current pilot.
• Document daily activities in TowWorks, including engine room logs, fuel operations logs, and pre-sail check lists.
• Participate in safety briefings with the crew.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• U.S. Coast Guard license as Master of Towing Vessels/Limited Master of Towing.
• Sufficient time with EMIS to demonstrate competence and leadership.
• Ability to swim.
• Valid TWIC Card (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
• Valid driver's license.
