Responsibilities

• Teach manuscript and cursive letter formation, pencil grip techniques, fine motor development, letter spacing, line awareness, and writing posture.
• Explain proper stroke sequences, directionality, sizing consistency, and the connection between legible handwriting and written expression.
• Guide students through multisensory techniques to improve writing fluency, including tactile activities and kinesthetic learning.
• Adapt instruction for students from preschool through elementary school, as well as older students with handwriting difficulties or dysgraphia.
• Use tools like raised-line paper, sand trays, finger tracing, and fine motor strengthening activities to address challenges such as incorrect pencil grip, letter reversal, inconsistent sizing, and poor fine motor control.
• Identify and address common student struggles using multiple teaching approaches tailored to individual learning styles.
• Provide personalized instruction through 1-on-1 online tutoring or accept on-demand tutoring requests.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of handwriting development, including manuscript and cursive letter formation, fine motor skills, and developmental progressions.
• Ability to teach correct letter formation, pencil grip adjustment, and writing fluency through multisensory techniques.
• Familiarity with handwriting challenges such as letter reversal, inconsistent sizing, and poor fine motor control, and the ability to adapt instruction accordingly.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
