Responsibilities

• Teach manuscript and cursive letter formation, pencil grip techniques, fine motor development, letter spacing, line awareness, and writing posture.
• Explain proper stroke sequences, directionality, sizing consistency, and the connection between legible handwriting and written expression.
• Use multisensory techniques to guide students through practicing individual letter strokes, connecting cursive letters, improving spacing and alignment, and building writing speed without sacrificing legibility.
• Emphasize kinesthetic learning through tactile activities and connect handwriting fluency to improved note-taking, test-taking, and written communication.
• Adapt instruction using raised-line paper, sand trays, finger tracing, and fine motor strengthening activities for students from preschool through elementary school, including those with dysgraphia.
• Identify common student struggles and explain material using multiple approaches to meet individual learning needs.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of handwriting developmental progressions and common challenges (e.g., incorrect pencil grip, letter reversal, inconsistent sizing, poor fine motor control).
• Familiarity with handwriting development progressions and adaptive instruction techniques for students with dysgraphia or handwriting difficulties.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
