About the Role
This position is responsible for packing hash brown patties into containers, inspecting for visible blemishes, foreign material, misshapen units, and ensuring a sound quality product. The role operates primarily on grave and swing shifts.
Responsibilities
- Make up cases (if Wexxar is down) and place on case conveyor to be filled.
- Ensure the proper count of product is in each container.
- Verify the container has a legible code and is fit for use.
- Monitor conditions of containers and the line’s smooth operation; assist where necessary.
- Add crude trays to the tray maker and unplug it when necessary.
- Fold stickers and place into containers when specifications require.
- Ensure product is trayed and cased correctly and efficiently with minimal waste.
- Inspect shrink wrap, drop bags, and overall pack wrap condition prior to casing.
- Ensure containers meet customer and case specifications for case amount.
- Strip out product to garbage when necessary.
- Maintain sanitation and housekeeping in the assigned work area (sweep, squeegee, shovel).
- Immediately inform the Supervisor of any finished product changes, excessive waste, or unusual conditions.
- Report personnel problems, safety violations, hazards, or infractions of plant rules to the Supervisor.
- Train new personnel in handpack duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory or lead personnel (e.g., general housekeeping, reworking damaged/restricted cases, maintaining personal hygiene).
- Actively engage in safety programs, risk assessments, and demonstrate ownership in personal and team safety.
- Rework potato product as needed.
Requirements
- Ability and willingness to follow instructions.
- Capability to perform trim line and cold inspection duties at any given moment.
- Sanitation and lock-out/tag-out qualified (training provided if not qualified).
- Good work performance and adherence to all plant rules and safety practices.
- Physical ability to perform the work, including standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Conscientious and consistent work ethic.
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
- Teamwork with other employees to ensure smooth workflow.
- Working knowledge of equipment operation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to follow simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Knowledge of lockouts, safety procedures, and hazard awareness.
- Proficiency with tools such as shovels, squeegees, brooms, and scrub brushes.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Exposure to cold, hot, and humid conditions.
- Very loud noise levels in the work environment.

Pay
Pay Rate or Range: $20.76 per hour.
