About the Role
In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees. The Hairstylist will have an eye for design, consult on hair styling options, describe the benefits of different hair care products, encourage members to buy retail products, and stay updated on the latest hair trends and styling methods. Exceptional interpersonal and conversational skills are essential to form relationships and retain long-term customers.
Responsibilities
- Welcoming clients and consulting with them on their desired hairstyles.
- Listening to clients' needs to determine their preferences.
- Describing different hair care products and their benefits.
- Shampooing, cutting, coloring, and highlighting hair.
- Offering manicure, pedicure, waxing, and facial services.
- Performing scalp treatments.
- Acting as salespersons to sell clients hair care retail products.
- Managing bookings and welcoming clients into the store.
- Entering transactions into POS system and maintaining accurate records.
- Building a personal relationship with clients to ensure return visits.
- Adhering to OSHA and salon protocols and procedures for safety and cleanliness standards.
- Ensuring that combs, scissors, razors, and other instruments are cleaned and sanitized after each use.
- Keeping updated on hairstyle trends and styling methods.
Requirements
- Current California Cosmetology License required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of professional salon experience preferred in a luxury salon, private club, resort, or Spa environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of haircutting, coloring, styling, and chemical services.
- Experience with Keratin Treatments and Hair Extensions a plus.
- Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and consultation abilities.
- Ability to educate Members on hair health, styling techniques, and home care.
- Comfortable recommending retail products and salon enhancements.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative Spa team.
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn Spa scheduling software.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Pay
The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $17.00 plus commission, based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
