About the role

The Houseman reports to the Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Manager, and Housekeeping Supervisor. They supervise no one.

Key Responsibilities and Performance/Behaviors

  • Explain and demonstrate Hospitality Behaviors and Performance Standards.
  • Understand where to find information needed to complete tasks to standard.
  • Explain or demonstrate the behavioral values or standards needed to complete tasks to standard.

  • Report ideas to increase team success and guest satisfaction to Supervisor or Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sweep and mop entry floors.
  • Clean entry glass doors.
  • Dust and clean baseboards, ceiling, and floor vents.
  • Clean ash urns, take out cigarette butts and trash.
  • Empty and clean trash cans inside and out.
  • Vacuum stairs and hallway carpets and dust and clean stairway rails.
  • Clean hall doors and windows, wipe window sills.
  • Check hallways for marks and smudges and clean any marks and smudges.
  • Clean and dust hallway furniture.
  • Clean and vacuum guestroom area elevators, clean threshold and tracks of elevators.
  • Mop and wipe soft drinks and ice cream machine rooms.
  • Check and empty Housekeepers' vacuum cleaners.
  • Retrieve dirty linen and trash from Housekeepers' carts.
  • Keep Housemen's supply closets neat, cleaned, and stocked.
  • Replace dirty or wet floor mats.
  • Get supplies from purchasing, move heavy furniture for Housekeepers, strip rooms on heavy check-out days as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to read and write to 8th grade level or six months to one year job-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be Mescalero Apache Tribal preference; bicultural experience preferred

The physical demands described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. The noise level in the work environment is loud. The team member will be exposed to a second-hand smoke-filled environment. The team member may be exposed to biohazardous fluids such as blood and other body fluids. The team member may be exposed to hostile environments with guests. May be subject to high stress environments.
