About the role
This position involves performing special duties as assigned, providing day-to-day support and assistance to the facilities staff, and acting as a liaison for VDOT staff.
Responsibilities
- Facilities Preparation: Design, plan, and execute floor plans for auditorium functions meeting specific customer needs. Set-up and break- down of facilities conference rooms. Move office and classroom furniture and equipment. Collect and deliver tools and equipment. Pick up and distribute supplies. Clean and dispose of trash after events. Perform installations to include maintaining multiple office directories for accuracy.
- Facility Related Tasks: Respond to work requests. Provide timely assistance as required while maintaining job priority; assist electricians as needed. Assist in preventative maintenance tasks. Assist mailroom with deliveries during peak workloads. Escort contractors and deliveries ensuring equipment and property are properly secured. Inventory equipment as needed.
- Perform duties as assigned.
- Routing Standardized Maintenance: Create signs, banners, and plaques for various functions. Maintain an inventory of auditorium textiles; ensure draperies and tablecloths are maintained and cleaned; transfer textiles to cleaners ensuring their readiness for use. Assist with light bulb, light and fixture replacement including wall mounted items.
Qualifications
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds to chest height.
- Ability to perform a variety of physically demanding tasks daily.
- Knowledge of facilities-related services and office interfaces in a large multi-divisional environment.
- Skill in basic computer operations.
Additional Considerations
- A combination of training, experience, or education in Facilities Operations, Maintenance, or related field desired.
- Skilled in building construction as project inspector, superintendent, or project manager.
