Gymnastics Team Coach

About the role

The Gymnastics Team Coach position involves training and coaching advanced gymnasts, assisting with gymnastics programs, and supervising CARA teams.

Responsibilities

• Train and coach advanced gymnasts
• Assist with supervision and instruction of gymnastics programs
• Learn and teach team routines
• Be present at all CARA team gymnastics practices and meets
• Evaluate and assess skill level and progress of all participants
• Coach Optional Gymnastics Team practices on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 pm-6:30pm and during the Gymnastics season from May-August from 8:15-10:45 am
• Coach Compulsory Gymnastics Team practices from 8:15- Noon (May-August) and 4:30-8:30 the rest of the year
• Coach meets on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

Requirements

• At least sixteen (16) years of age
• Experience and ability to coach youth gymnasts in advanced techniques including beginner flight skills and twists
• One (1) year of previous experience in structured gymnastics programming
• Experience with supervising children ages 6 to 18 years old preferred
• Background in athletics, teaching, coaching and/or competing in gymnastics preferred
• Congestion recognition training is required prior to employment and must be renewed annually
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are preferred
• CARA Safety Awareness certificate is required prior to competition season

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
• Pass a background check

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of gymnastics techniques and safety protocols

Schedule

Optional Gymnastics Team practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 pm-6:30pm and during the Gymnastics season (May-August) practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays 8:15-10:45 am and meets are on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Coaches must be consistently available to coach practices and meets.

Compulsory Gymnastics Team practices are 8:15- Noon (May-August) and 4:30-8:30 the rest of the year. Meets are on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Coaches must be constantly available to coach practices and meets.
