• Effective July 2025, the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 temporarily reduces monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits; this position is subject to PLP 2025 with a 3% base‑pay reduction for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027.
• The salary ranges shown do not reflect the PLP 2025 reduction.

Requirements

• Pass a drug screening prior to hire.
• Clear a background investigation prior to hire.
• Obtain medical clearance prior to hire.
• Successfully complete a Livescan fingerprint check and any background investigation required by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) before appointment.
• Provide employment history on the State Application STD 678; do not attach a resume, otherwise the application may be considered incomplete.
• Exclude confidential information from all submitted documents (e.g., SSN, birthdate, student ID, driver’s license number unless required, eligibility exam results, LEAP status, marital status, age). Electronic submissions will automatically redact such data.

Qualifications

• Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment; unofficial transcripts/diploma must be supplied if meeting qualifications via education, with official transcripts possibly required upon appointment.
• Candidates lacking minimum qualifications will be withheld from the eligibility list and may appeal to the State Personnel Board.
• Eligible applicants include those who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer or reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (attach letter if available). SROA and Surplus candidates receive priority; other eligibility may be considered if no SROA/Surplus applicants exist.

Pay

The classification offers a salary range of $4,821.00 – $5,773.00 per month. New‑to‑State candidates are hired at the minimum of this range (or the minimum of an alternate range when applicable). Note that the posted salary range does not reflect the 3% base‑pay reduction under PLP 2025, which applies to this position.
