About the role

Gun Customer Service associates are responsible for creating a welcoming environment by greeting customers, accurately processing transactions while following all ATF federal laws and guidelines. This role provides friendly, helpful service that ensures customers leave with a positive impression of Scheels. This role requires all associates to be at least 21 years of age due to compliance requirements for processing firearms.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store.
  • Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program.
  • Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store.
  • Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently.
  • Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits.
  • End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer.
  • Process returns and exchanges for firearm purchases.
  • Complete firearm background checks.
  • Assist with Gun Room housekeeping.
  • Ensure all ATF federal laws and guidelines are followed.
  • Ability to execute technology-based processes for firearm and/or suppressor transactions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 1–3 months of cashiering experience.

Physical Requirements / Lifting Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.
