About the role

West Star is the fastest growing maintenance repair organization in the industry. As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician on the 2nd shift, you will perform a variety of mechanical tasks on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world, including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as inspections, engine removal/installations, and aircraft movement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems
  • Removal and installation of panels and components
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve aircraft system/component issues
  • De-fueling aircraft
  • Engine removal and installations
  • Operate ground support equipment
  • Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components
  • Assist in aircraft movement, performance runs, and taxiing
  • Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling
  • Navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases using basic computer skills
  • Communicate effectively in English (speak, write, read)
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Airframe or Powerplant license (specific requirements vary by level):
    • AMT I: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred); 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar
    • AMT II: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred); 2-4 years of experience in aviation maintenance; corporate aircraft experience preferred
    • AMT III: Airframe license required; Powerplant license highly preferred; 4-6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance; corporate aircraft experience highly preferred
    • AMT IV (Master): Airframe and Powerplant license required; 6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance; extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms
  • Self-motivated team player able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints
  • Reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments
  • Reliable transportation to work
  • Work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and company safety rules
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
  • Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas
  • Stand for long periods of time

Mental Requirements

  • Understand and implement regulations and guidelines
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation
  • Work with others in a professional manner

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations (very cold to very hot)
  • Work outside during aircraft runs
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft

Equipment Used

  • Personal hand tools (supplied by the mechanic)
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
  • Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices
  • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment

Pay

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30–$46. Actual hourly rate varies based on factors including location, experience, and performance. Additional compensation includes:

  • Shift differential for alternate shifts
