Guitar Instructor @ Olathe Corps

About the role

This position involves leading music and other arts programs within the corps, planning and implementing curriculum, and organizing musical performances and community activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead music and other arts programs as assigned within the corps.
  • Plan and implement weekly music lessons for assigned classes.
  • Attend and prepare for all recitals at the corps.
  • Encourage participants to achieve goals and develop musical abilities.
  • Organize and participate in summer camps to enhance participants' talents and decision-making.
  • Help plan and participate in summer music day camps.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
  • Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and/or adults.
  • Performance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility in changing job situations.
  • A strong commitment to support and promote The Salvation Army's mission.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $X per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Salary is reviewed annually and may be adjusted based on performance and market conditions.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is flexible and may vary based on the needs of the corps and the individual's availability. The typical workweek is 40 hours, but may be adjusted as necessary.

The work environment for this position includes a program environment with moderate to high noise levels. Employees are required to use standard office equipment and a PC as part of their job responsibilities.
