Guidance Navigation & Control Engineer 4 (contract)

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing-approved third party for the duration of the specified project. The position requires onsite work in Everett, Washington.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Flight Control Systems Integration and Safety Engineer to support our team. The selected candidate will gather, define, and document system-level requirements, perform and document design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems, and guide experienced engineers in these tasks. This role involves developing GNC and mathematical tools, analyzing test data, and presenting compliance findings to regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Decompose airplane-level requirements into system-level and component-level requirements.
• Lead or participate in system, component, and detail certification efforts, including:
  • Creation of certification artifacts (e.g., system safety analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis).
  • Confirming and demonstrating traceability to regulatory requirements.
  • Resolving regulation conflicts.
• Gather, define, and document system-level requirements to support flight control and mission/trajectory requirements.
• Resolve requirement conflicts.
• Perform and document analysis and design of GNC systems to validate or assess system design or models.
• Lead or participate in system-level and component-level validation analysis and testing, including:
  • Test monitoring and report authoring.
  • Supplier test report review and approval.
  • Test failure analysis and mitigation.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with avionics, pilot/crew operations, airplane safety, aerodynamics, BCA systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies.
• Develop solutions and disposition of issues to ensure customer satisfaction.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 (US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5–7 years of technical experience working with Flight Controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with System Safety Analysis, including:
  • Failure modes and effects analysis.
  • Fault tree analysis.
  • Common cause analysis.
  • Single and multiple failure analysis.
• Knowledge/experience with ARP 4754 and ARP 4761.
• Experience with flight controls system and component architecture.
• Experience in requirements development, design, analysis, and verification & validation of flight control systems.
• Experience using requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS.
• Experience with manufacturing regulated and certified, safety-critical components and software.
• Bachelor’s degree and typically 9+ years of experience in an engineering classification, or a Master’s degree with 7+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years.
• Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry from an accredited institution (ABET preferred).

Pay

$94–$99 USD hourly.
