Guidance Counselor (pk-grade 4)- Boothbay Region Elementary School 26/27

About the role

B Boothbay Region Elementary School (BRES) is located in scenic Mid-Coast Maine and serves roughly 300 students in grades Pre K–8. We have an opening for a guidance counselor serving grades PK-4. This person will be an integral member of our PK-4th grade teams and PBIS behavior intervention team.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support student social-emotional development
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement strategies for addressing student needs
• Support the implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) programs
• Assess and document student progress using appropriate tools and techniques
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities

Requirements

• Master's degree in School Counseling or related field
• Licensure as a School Counselor in Maine
• Experience working with young children and families
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning frameworks and best practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Passing scores on the Praxis II: School Counseling Content Knowledge test
• At least 1-2 years of full-time experience in a school setting

Skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
