Responsibilities
- Assists students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through teacher comments, standardized test scores, and other relevant data.
- Works with students to develop educational and career plans based on evaluations.
- Provides individual counseling sessions and small/large group counseling sessions to address students' personal needs and educational/career plans.
- Aids in course selection and scheduling, and assists students in finding alternative educational programs if they are at risk of dropping out.
- Coordinates with staff to ensure students are enrolled in summer school programs to make up any noted deficiencies.
- Participates in follow-up studies of former students to improve services and evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program.
- Offers emergency support to students during crises.
- Shares college financial aid/scholarship resources and assists with college selection for high school students.
- Maintains cumulative records for assigned students in compliance with state and federal laws and CSUSA policy.
- Prepares recommendations for colleges and potential employers based on student records.
- Contributes to the evaluation of current curriculum offerings and develops an evaluation plan for the guidance program.
- Communicates with parents and utilizes community resources to enhance guidance services and activities.
- Interprets the Guidance Services Program within the school and community, and assists community agencies and resource people who deal with students' needs.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS), and email communications.
- Demonstrates proficiency in researching, evaluating, and implementing best practices.
- Strives to promote quality and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
- Has the ability to manage disciplinary issues flexibly and creatively.
- Possesses detailed knowledge of Federal, State, and local requirements for K-12 schools and charter school law.
