General Dynamics Mission Systems engineers a diverse portfolio of high technology solutions, products, and services that enable customers to successfully execute missions across all domains of operation.

About the role

This individual will work within a Guidance Systems team performing analysis, design, implementation, and test activities as part of a system development effort. Additional tasks include support of on-going Internal Research & Development (IRAD) activities in the area of inertial guidance. These tasks are related to activities in our Advanced Guidance Lab (AGL) and Guidance Development Lab (GDL) and include guidance concepts/technologies, test equipment development tools, and lab infrastructure.

The selected candidate should have good oral and written communications skills, perform work assignments under minimal supervision, and support frequent communications within and across Integrated Product Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a scientific background and understanding of Guidance Navigation & Controls
  • Experience with MATLAB, engineering systems, and advancing GDMS technology
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronics and electrical systems
  • Operate basic laboratory environments and equipment
  • Lead a small team of engineers (preferred)
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects, and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy
  • Follow industry and department trends to ensure GDMS services meet or exceed industry best practices
  • Experience with embedded programming (C, C++, Python, JavaScript) and microcontrollers
  • Basic knowledge of inertial sensors
  • Familiarity with estimation theory, filtering, and data reduction
  • Agile Method experience
  • Familiarity with LabView

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within our facilities
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience (preferred)
  • AI experience (preferred)
  • Familiarity with circuit design and analysis (preferred)
  • FPGA design (preferred)
  • Closed loop control (preferred)
  • Simulation and modeling experience (preferred)

Pay

Target salary range: USD $118,519.00/Yr. - USD $131,482.00/Yr.

Schedule

This position is flex or fully on-site. While on-site, you will be part of the team located in Pittsfield, MA.
