Guest Services Team Member (Seasonal)

About the role

Guest Services team members work to ensure a memorable experience for all Zoo & Aquarium visitors by providing superior customer service and making all guests feel welcome. Team members respond to guest inquiries, promote Zoo & Aquarium events, and assist other departments to help provide a seamless guest experience. Lastly, team members also assist with maintaining the general cleanliness of the Zoo & Aquarium, helping to provide a safe and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Admissions
  • Efficiently scanning and processing tickets and membership cards for entry, while enforcing Zoo & Aquarium policies in a friendly manner.
  • Presenting appropriate ticket/membership options to guests and efficiently processing the sale of tickets/memberships through the POS system.
  • Assisting with the facilitation of visiting groups to ensure quick and efficient access through the Zoo & Aquarium entrance.
  • Adhering to the organization’s cash handling and credit card procedures.
• Retail
  • Initiating and completing all merchandise/rental transactions in retail locations while suggestively selling and being knowledgeable about products.
  • Assisting managers with receiving and tagging of merchandise.
  • Stocking supplies and maintaining cleanliness of retail locations.
  • Adhering to the organization’s cash handling and credit card procedures.
• Rides
  • Ensuring the proper use of safety practices and procedures while operating the attraction.
  • Following opening/closing procedures, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and accurately completing daily paperwork.
  • Loading and unloading of ride, checking ride restraints, providing safety instructions, operating control panels, dispatching vehicles and ensuring the safe operation of the attractions.
  • Maintaining concentration, alertness, and attentiveness for extended periods of time.
• *This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium.

Pay

• Admissions Team Member – $15.00/hour (minimum age 15+, driver’s license not required)
• Retail Team Member – $15.00/hour (minimum age 15+, driver’s license not required)
• Ride Station Host – $15.00/hour (minimum age 15+, driver’s license not required)
• Ride Operator II – $15.00/hour (minimum age 16+, driver’s license not required)
• Ride Operator I – $15.50/hour (minimum age 18+, valid driver’s license required)

Schedule

This role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evening hours, in all weather extremes.

Requirements

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Experience in a customer service role is welcomed.
• Ability to interact with all types of people professionally and effectively.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, move around to complete job duties, and move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Valid driver’s license required for some positions.
• Must pass background and drug screening.
