Guest Relations - Interpretive Host I - Reserve
About the role
The Biltmore House Guest Relations Historic Interpreter I is responsible for interacting with guests and providing interpretation, information, and assistance. They are also tasked with maintaining the safety of guests, employees, and the house and collection.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and orient guests as they enter Biltmore House, offering assistance with literature and ticket/checking.
- Check guest tickets/passports, assist with wheelchair/elevator accommodations, and initiate conversations about Biltmore Estate and its attractions.
- Perform Vulnerable Objects List checks and respond to alarms.
- Maintain awareness of safety and enforce Biltmore House policies.
- Certify and lead various tours, including student group tours, audio tours, and guided Biltmore House tours.
- Provide general assistance at Summer Concert Evenings and exhibitions.
Requirements
- High school diploma (or GED) required.
- One year of related experience in public contact, customer service, hospitality, teaching, or related fields preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to guest service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly learn Biltmore history, protocols, and products/services.
- Proactive and creative problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (or GED).
- Additional training, education, and/or certification(s) preferred.
- At least one year of related experience in a public contact, customer service, hospitality, teaching, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education/experience considered.
- Instructional delivery experience a plus.

Benefits
This role offers holiday availability and includes an estimated 15 hours/week during Biltmore House regular and Candlelight hours, Luminere evenings and weekends.
Pay
Minimum pay for this position is $16.32/hour. Additional compensation will be considered for candidates with higher amounts of experience above the minimum requirements.
