Guest Faculty Research Participant: NST Colloidal Nanocrystals
About the Role
We are seeking a Visiting Faculty member to contribute to an ongoing research project focused on perovskite lead halide CsPbBr₃ and related colloidal CsPbX₃ (X = Cl, Br, I) nanocrystals. This project investigates anion exchange processes in CsPbBr₃ nanocrystals using a novel approach that employs solid halide precursors in nonpolar organic solvents, eliminating the need for additional ligands or alcohols. The role involves advancing our understanding of the ion exchange mechanism, particularly the role of cations in halide precursors and the impact of nonpolar solvents.
Responsibilities
- Conduct systematic studies on the correlation between the surface area of solid halide precursors and their solubility in nonpolar solvents.
- Perform UV-Vis and photoluminescence studies to analyze the cation-exchange process.
- Utilize XRD and TEM measurements to examine the structure and morphology of samples.
- Investigate the transformation processes of AgCl, NH₄Cl, NH₄I, and NH₄F to deepen understanding of ion exchange mechanisms.
- Collaborate on further exploration of how CsPbBr₃ morphology affects the rate of ion exchange.
Requirements
- Faculty status at an academic institution.
- Experience in research involving perovskite materials, nanocrystals, or related fields.
- Proficiency in techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence, XRD, and TEM.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.
