About the role

Target is looking for Guest Advocates who champion guest experience by welcoming, thanking, and exceeding service expectations. The role involves interacting with guests in‑store and digitally, promoting loyalty enrollment, store cleanliness, and helping guests navigate checkout lanes, guest services, gift registry, pick‑up, and drive‑up. Guest Advocates develop communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills while adapting to varied guest interactions.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests: within 10 ft – smile, make eye contact, or wave; within 4 ft – greet, smile, and initiate a warm, helpful interaction.
• Help guests find items or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience.
• Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest experience by delivering the service standard.
• Inform guests about current promotions, store activities, and events.
• Show guests how to use features within the Target App, including Wallet.
• Explain the benefits of Target Loyalty programs and assist with application, sign‑up, and sign‑in as needed.
• Scan and bag all guest items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with food‑safety standards and company best practices.
• Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining service quality and accuracy.
• Be familiar with Order Pick‑Up, Drive‑Up, and online ordering; direct guests to enroll, activate, and use these features.
• Attempt every return or exchange, follow register prompts, and partner with leaders to resolve issues per Target policies.
• Maintain a clean, clutter‑free work area by gathering unpurchased items, baskets, and hangers for removal.
• Stock supplies during store open hours while remaining available for guests.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance at all times.
• Work safely, comply with all safety policies and training, report hazards, and correct them when possible.
• Support guest services such as Order Pick‑Up (OPU), Drive‑Up (DU) orders, and DU returns, adhering to federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Accurately handle checkout operations, transactions, and support cash‑office functions as needed.
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise safely; frequently lift or move items up to 10 lb and occasionally up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Remain mobile for the duration of a shift; work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive‑Up and carry‑out.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $16.00 USD per hour.
