Guardianship and Elder Law Associate Attorney

About the role

The firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their Guardianship and Elder Law Department. The role involves practicing before the Surrogate’s Court and the Supreme Court, with a focus on mental hygiene law article 81 guardianship proceedings, Medicaid planning, and public benefits advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Drafting pleadings and conducting legal research
• Making frequent court appearances, both remotely and in person
• Handling both contested and uncontested matters in guardianship proceedings
• Engaging in Medicaid planning and public benefits advocacy
• Communicating effectively with clients, court personnel, and adversaries
• Prioritizing and managing workload in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in New York State
• At least 4 years of experience in guardianship, elder law, Medicaid planning, or a related practice area
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible and prioritize work tasks
• Comfortable working with all levels of business professionals

Pay

Competitive salary range: $125k-$145k

Schedule

This is an in-person position based out of the firm's Lake Success office. The role requires a full five-day per week in-office presence.
